My Diary

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how My Diary ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. My Diary is built to be a private, offline diary journal — your diary entries, photos, drawings, moods, and tags are stored only on your device and are never uploaded, synced, or transmitted to us or to any server.

By using My Diary, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

My Diary does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the app. We do not collect, store, or have access to:

All of the above is stored locally on your device using the app's local database and file storage, and is only accessible to you. If you uninstall the app or use the "Clear All Memories" option in Settings, this data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by us because we never had a copy of it.

2. Information Collected Automatically

My Diary uses a small number of third-party services to keep the app free, stable, and improving. These services may automatically collect limited technical information as described below. This information is never linked to your diary content.

Service Purpose Data involved
Google AdMob Displays banner and interstitial ads to support the free version of the app Advertising ID, device/network information, general usage signals used for ad personalization and measurement
Firebase Analytics Understand feature usage (e.g. which screens are opened, which buttons are tapped) so we can improve the app Anonymous app-usage events (e.g. "entry created", "theme changed"), device type, general location (country/region), app version
Firebase Crashlytics Detect and fix app crashes and bugs Crash logs, stack traces, device model, OS version
Firebase App Check Protect our backend/ad services from abuse and bots Device integrity signals — no personal or diary data

None of these services ever receive your diary entries, photos, drawings, moods, or any content you write in the app. They only receive technical/usage information about how the app runs.

3. Permissions Used by the App

Permission Why it's used
Internet / Network State Required to load ads and send anonymous analytics/crash data. Not used to transmit your diary content.
Camera Allows you to optionally take a photo directly to attach to a diary entry. Photos are saved only to your device.
Biometric (fingerprint / face unlock) Used only to unlock the app locally on your device if you enable App Lock. Biometric data is processed by your device's operating system — My Diary never sees or stores your biometric data.

Photos you attach from your gallery are selected using Android's built-in system photo picker, which does not require My Diary to be granted broad access to your photo library.

4. App Lock, PIN & Biometric Security

If you set a PIN code or enable biometric unlock, this information is stored securely and locally on your device only (e.g. in encrypted local storage). We do not have access to your PIN and cannot recover it for you if you forget it — you would need to reset the app's data, which will also erase your diary entries.

5. Data Storage & Retention

6. Children's Privacy

My Diary is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through third-party services used by this app, please contact us so we can address it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location (e.g. under GDPR in the EU/UK or CCPA in California), you may have rights regarding data collected by third-party services described in Section 2, including the right to opt out of personalized advertising. You can manage ad personalization through your device settings (e.g. Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization on Android). Since we do not hold your diary content ourselves, requests to access, correct, or delete diary content can be completed directly within the app.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by the app, including relying on your device's OS-level security and encryption. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
